Early Trauma Approach EMDR

When the past lives in your body, not just your memory

Some experiences happen before we have words for them — before we can make sense of what occurred or why it hurt. Preverbal and early life trauma is stored differently than other memories. You may not be able to recall it clearly, but your body, your nervous system, and your patterns of connection carry it every day.

That's exactly what this work is designed to reach.

What is Early Trauma EMDR?

Sometimes the experiences that shape us most happened before we had words for them. Even when we can't consciously remember those early moments, our nervous system often does. They can show up as anxiety, difficulty trusting others, people-pleasing, perfectionism, chronic shame, emotional overwhelm, or a feeling that something just isn't right.

The Early Trauma EMDR Protocol is an advanced, attachment-focused approach that helps heal these very early wounds. Rather than simply talking about the past, it works with your brain and nervous system to gently process experiences that may still be held in your body.

As healing unfolds, many people begin to experience a deeper sense of safety, greater emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and the freedom to respond to life from the present instead of old survival patterns.

This isn't about reliving your past or forcing painful memories. It's about helping your nervous system experience what it may have missed from the very beginning of safety, connection, and the opportunity to heal. Every session is tailored to your unique history, your pace, and your nervous system, creating a compassionate space for lasting change.

I am an EMDRIA-Certified EMDR therapist and Consultant-in-Training with advanced training in:

  • Somatic & Attachment-Focused EMDR

  • Preverbal trauma protocols

  • Early Trauma EMDR Protocol

  • Resetting Affect Circuits EMDR Protocol

  • Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP)

  • Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP)

  • Childhood sexual trauma

This specialized training allows me to work with the earliest, most tender layers of wounding with precision, safety, and deep respect for your pace.

This work may be right for you if:

Feel like you've gained insight through talk therapy, but your nervous system still reacts as though you're not truly safe.

  • Sense that your struggles are rooted in early experiences, even if you can't fully remember or put them into words.

  • Experience flashbacks, nightmares, panic, or intense emotional reactions that seem to come out of nowhere.

  • Carry persistent shame, self-criticism, or a feeling that something is fundamentally wrong with you.

  • Have lived through abuse, neglect, attachment wounds, or childhood trauma and are looking for a safe, compassionate place to heal.

  • Want to process trauma in a way that honors your nervous system, without feeling pressured to relive or recount every detail of what happened.

  • Long to feel more present, connected, and free from the patterns that no longer serve you.

What to Expect

One of the most common concerns I hear is, "Will I have to relive my trauma?" The answer is no. Healing doesn't come from pushing through overwhelm—it comes from creating enough safety for your nervous system to process what it's been holding.

Our work together is collaborative, compassionate, and always guided by your pace. Every person's healing journey is unique, but sessions generally include these phases:

Getting to Know Your Story
We begin by understanding you—not just what happened, but how those experiences continue to affect your life, relationships, and nervous system today. Together, we'll identify your goals and create a plan that feels safe and manageable.

Creating a Foundation of Safety
Before processing trauma, we'll strengthen your internal resources. This may include grounding skills, nervous system regulation, imagery, attachment-focused interventions, and developing a greater sense of safety and connection within yourself.

Processing Early Trauma
When you're ready, we'll gently process experiences that have remained stored in your nervous system. Using EMDR with bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones), along with somatic and attachment-focused approaches, we'll work with both your mind and body so healing can occur without forcing you to relive every detail.

Integration and Lasting Change
As your nervous system begins to release old survival patterns, we'll help those changes become integrated into daily life. Many clients notice they feel calmer, more connected, more present, and better able to respond to life from a place of choice rather than old protective patterns.

Throughout the process, you'll remain in control. We move at the pace of your nervous system, with safety and connection guiding every step.

How We Work Together

Healing preverbal and early life trauma isn't one-size-fits-all. I offer several ways to engage in this work depending on your needs, pace, and goals.

Ongoing Individual Therapy

Traditional weekly therapy provides a consistent, private space to process at your own pace. Sessions are available in 90 or 120 minute formats, allowing enough time to slow down, regulate your nervous system, and engage in meaningful trauma processing without feeling rushed.

Together, we'll build safety, strengthen internal resources, process the experiences that continue to impact your life, and integrate lasting change. This approach is ideal if you're looking for ongoing support and want to weave healing into the rhythm of your everyday life.

Rapid Transformation Experiences

For those seeking a more immersive approach, Rapid Transformation Experiences offer dedicated, uninterrupted time to focus on the root causes of emotional pain rather than simply managing symptoms. Available as one-, two-, or three-day experiences for individuals and couples, each immersion is thoughtfully designed to support deeper healing through focused therapeutic work.

Every experience includes a pre-immersion preparation session, personalized 4-hour intensive therapy sessions, and a post-immersion integration session 2–4 weeks later. This process allows us to prepare thoughtfully, engage in meaningful trauma work, and support lasting integration long after the intensive has ended.

Not sure which option is right for you? Book a consultation and we'll figure it out together.

MY APPROACH

I’m Sasha

Healing isn't about fixing you — because you're not broken. Trauma forces us into survival modes that make sense at the time but eventually become too heavy to carry.

My role is to walk alongside you, bringing my training and my humanity, while you stay in control of the process. Together, we create a safe, steady space where your body and mind can finally let go of what's been held for too long.

"Trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you."
